Suspect Arrested In Napier Homes Shooting

A 20-year-old is charged with killing a 51-year-old man after an argument which allegedly began with a debate about shoes.

NASHVILLE, TN — A 20-year-old accused of killing a 51-year-old man at J.C. Napier Homes last week was arrested early Wednesday morning.

Cortney Jenkins is accused of shooting and killing Randy Maupin several times outside of Maupin's residence March 18.

At the time, family members said the two began arguing about shoes before the shooting.

Witnesses told investigators Jenkins shot Maupin in the doorway before fleeing. Another said Jenkins threatened Maupin before hearing gunfire.

After he was shot, witnesses say Maupin ran inside and collapsed, but then Jenkins dragged Maupin outside after saying he was not going to die inside. Maupin was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Jenkins, charged with criminal homicide, is being held on a $350,000 bond.
