Update: Police Seek Car Linked To Murder Of Teen

His assailants fled the scene in a late-model Ford Fusion, say Metro Nashville police.

UPDATE — The Metro Nashville police are asking for the public’s help in locating the late model white Ford Fusion that has been linked to Tuesday night’s murder of 15-year-old Jaezoine Woods. The police released surveillance images Wednesday of the car as it moved through the J.C. Napier public housing complex.

Police detectives have determined that a fight between Woods and several other individuals broke out Tuesday night in a parking lot in the housing complex, near 686 Lewis St. It culminated in gunshots being fired at around 8:45 p.m.

Woods ran away after apparently being hit by gunfire, the police said. The others jumped into the Ford Fusion and pursued him, cutting him off and shooting him again.

The teenager collapsed in the 700 block of Lewis Street. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.

The Ford Fusion has a sunroof and larger rims, the police said. One of the suspects is described as a young black man, about 6 feet tall with a heavy build. He wore a white T-shirt and orange shorts. UPDATE — The Metro Nashville police released the name Wednesday morning of the 15-year-old who died Tuesday night after he was shot in a public housing complex south of downtown. Jaezoine Woods, the victim, had gotten into a fight with several other unidentified individuals before the shooting, according to police.

A resident of the J.C. Napier development, who walked onto her back porch after hearing the shots, was struck by an apparently ricocheting bullet, the police said. The 45-year-old woman was treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and released.

Police detectives are investigating the shooting.

NASHVILLE, TN — The Metro Nashville police are investigating the shooting death of a teenager Tuesday night in south Nashville, according to a media report. The shooting occurred at about 8:45 p.m. near a public housing complex in the 700 block of Lewis Street, WSMV-TV News 4 reported.

The 15-year-old was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died, News 4 reported. The police did not release his name.

One other person was wounded in the shooting, News 4 reported. Officials did not release the individual's name or condition.

As of Wednesday morning, the police had not released a description of the gunman, according to News 4.
