Two Charged with February Murder in Priest Lake
A La Vergne woman was arrested Tuesday in the parking-lot slaying.
LA VERGNE, TN — A La Vergne woman was arrested late Tuesday for the February murder of a Nashville man in Priest Lake.
Latasha Starks, 38, is charged with the murder of Algernon Cross, who was shot and killed in a parking lot on Bell Road in February. Jerome Sawyers, 36, was also indicted for first-degree murder; he is in federal custody in Arkansas.
Cross was riding with a female relative Feb. 12 and told her to pull into the parking lot upon seeing someone he recognized. He was then shot and killed.

Sawyers was charged with tampering with evidence at the time of the shooting after he took something from Cross' pockets and threw it in a nearby creek.
