Brentwood Fall Cleanup Dates, Drug Take-Back Day Announced

Fall Cleanup Dates

The City of Brentwood will hold its regular fall cleanup events as planned for residents to drop off unwanted household items. Due to COVID-19 and for the safety of you and our employees, we ask that you wear a mask and maintain social distancing on the day of drop off. The cleanup times are from 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m on the designated dates and locations below:

• October 24 at Granny White Park - 610 Granny White Pike
• October 31 at Safety Center East - 1300 Sunset Road
• November 7 at Granny White Park - 610 Granny White Pike

Please be sure to check the list of acceptable and unacceptable items on our website prior to drop-off.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Also, on Saturday, October 24, the Brentwood Police Department and The Drug Enforcement Administration will partner for its annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The one-day event makes it convenient for residents to get rid of potentially dangerous prescription drugs.

Representatives from the Brentwood Police Department and the Williamson County Anti-Drug Coalition will be at Brentwood City Hall to collect expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020. Brentwood City Hall is located at 5211 Maryland Way in Brentwood. If you can’t make the October 24 event, there is also a Drug Drop Off box located inside the front door of City Hall for anyone to use anytime, 24/7. Last year’s event marked the 18th National Take Back event where more than 910 tons of prescription drugs were turned into officials at nearly 5,000 law enforcement agencies across the United States.

Please note that we will not be able to accept liquids, needles or sharps of any kind. Vape pens without batteries will be accepted. Also, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are offering and encouraging citizens to use the curbside drop-off service at Brentwood City Hall. Officers will be standing outside to allow residents to drive through and hand unwanted medicine to officers and drive away.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that most abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
