Brentwood Firefighters Deploy to Battle East Tennessee Wildfires
With training in wild land fires, Brentwood Fire & Rescue personnel are especially helpful in the battle against wildfires.

MOWBRAY MOUNTAIN, TN — Seventeen Brentwood firefighters have joined with fire departments across the state to battle the ongoing wildfires in East Tennessee.
Unusually for a department in Middle Tennessee, Brentwood has firefighters trained in wild land firefighting, a wholly different undertaking than structure fires. The group went first to Cookeville Sunday, answering the statewide call for assistance from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, and are now fighting the Mobray Mountain fire in Hamilton County which has burned more than 800 acres.
"The Mowbray fire has consumed nearly 800 acres and is considered 70 percent contained at this time. Severe drought conditions, gusty winds, and a leaf-blanketed forest floor is making progress difficult and arduous," according to Brentwood Fire & Rescue's Facebook page.

Williamson County firefighters are currently training and could be deployed to East Tennessee as well if there is no rain within a week, Jay Bonson, Williamson County Fire and Rescue Services coordinator, told The Tennessean.
Two Franklin fire fighters could also join a Florida team there.
