Brentwood Library Will Reopen Tuesday, May 26
The John P. Holt Brentwood Library will open its doors to patrons once again on Tuesday, May 26 at 9:00 a.m.

The John P. Holt Brentwood Library will open its doors to patrons once again on Tuesday, May 26 at 9:00 a.m. The Library has been closed since March 16 when the Federal Government and the Centers for Disease Control recommended cancelling events of 50 people or more in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Although staff have been working on projects inside the library, Director Susan Earl said, βwe have truly missed our patrons and look forward to interacting with you all again soon.β Earl added that new safety protocols will be in place throughout the building. βSocial distancing signs and sneeze guards have been placed in publicly used spaces,β Earl said. Fewer chairs have been placed in the common areas to encourage social distancing.
βYou will also notice our staff members wearing face masks, as advised by the Governorβs Tennessee Pledge Plan which the City is following for reopening. This is to protect our citizens, as well as to keep our employees healthy and safe to be able to keep the library open,β Earl said. Employeesβ temperatures will be taken upon arrival to work and employees and are provided hand sanitizer and gloves. Staff will be cleaning and sanitizing commonly used surfaces such as self-checkouts and computers as often as possible.

Returned items will be quarantined for three days to help eliminate the possibility of spreading COVID-19 and these items will remain on a patronβs account during this period before being manually checked in by staff. Upon reopening, fines will begin to accrue for overdue items again.
Periodicals and newspapers are temporarily unavailable, and study rooms and the large meeting rooms will not be available until further notice. Programming will be converted to a virtual format including Summer Reading performers and Story Times. The Library will close each day at 6:00 p.m. while open hours will remain the same, 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. Saturday, 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
