Brentwood Mayor, Vice-Mayor Sworn In

The Brentwood City Commission elected the city's largely ceremonial mayor and vice-mayor Monday.

BRENTWOOD, TN — Brentwood's City Commission selected two of its members to serve in the largely ceremonial posts of mayor and vice-mayor at its meeting Monday night.

Jill Burgin, in her sixth year on the commission, was elected mayor. She had served as vice-mayor since 2013. Mark Gorman, in his fourth year on the commission, was elected vice-mayor.

With a commission-manager form of government, the posts of mayor and vice-mayor lack the power and administrative duties in cities with mayor-council forms of government. The city manager administers the city day-to-day.
