The Brentwood City Commission gave initial approval to a set of food truck regulations.

BRENTWOOD, TN — Food trucks may soon start rolling into parts of Brentwood after the city commission gave its initial OK to regulations on mobile food vendors, which will allow them to operate in more places and independently.
The commission passed the regulations Tuesday and could give its final approval February 27.

- Suburban industrial districts for special events.
- Residential districts for homeowners association events or other special events.
Food trucks will be required to purchase a $50 permit. Those operating without a permit would be required to pay $100. The trucks would be allowed to operate from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will not be allowed to park in public rights of way.
The changes would allow food trucks to operate independently in places like Maryland Farms. Previously, trucks would have to coordinate with businesses in non-retail commercial districts to conduct their sales for them, according to The Tennessean.
