California Grandmother Killed In I-65 Crash

A 79-year-old woman was killed in a single-car crash near Brentwood Saturday morning.

BRENTWOOD, TN — A 79-year-old Fresno, Calif. woman died after a single-car crash on Interstate 65 South near Old Hickory Boulevard near Brentwood Saturday morning.

Catherine Marie Vandepavert was in the back seat of a 2015 Subaru Forrester driven by her 24-year-old granddaughter, Melanie Catherine Laurendine of Indianapolis. Laurendine left the road for an as-yet-undetermined reason and hit a rock wall.

Vandepavert was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.

Melanie Laurendine was taken to the hospital with minor injuries while her mother, Ingride Laurendine, who was in the front passenger seat, sustained serious injuries.

Police are investigating but say there is no evidence of drugs or alcohol and all three passengers were wearing seatbelts.
