Christmas Tree Not to Blame for Brentwood House Fire; Cause Still Undetermined

BRENTWOOD, TN — A Christmas tree was not to blame for a December 23 house fire in Brentwood and the city's fire marshal says it may be impossible to ever determine what caused the massive blaze on Elmington Court.

Fire Marshal Nancy Jones determined the fire began in a study, adjacent to the room where the Christmas tree was located, but said a definitive cause has not been determined. Both the homeowner and the firefighters on the scene initially suspected lights left on the Christmas tree caused the fire, which destroyed the home.

Jones' investigation will continue. No one was in the home at the time of the blaze, but a pet did not survive.
