The Williamson County Commission OK'd $15 million for design and site development for new east Brentwood K-8 school.

BRENTWOOD, TN — The Williamson County Commission approved the initial funding for a new K-8 school in east Brentwood Monday night.
The commission gave the go-ahead for $15 million for design, site development and land purchase for the project, along with $38.7 million to finish construction of a similar facility in Thompson's Station.
Williamson County is preparing for what will likely be a long run of school building projects, as the district is expected to add 10,000 new students in the next five years. This year's enrollment exceeded projections by 129 students.

Before the end of the year, the county commission is likely to take up a proposal to impose an impact fee on new residential developments, the proceeds of which would be earmarked for new school construction.
