Williamson County Unemployment Rate Drops To 2 Percent

NASHVILLE, TN — The unemployment rate in Williamson County was just 2 percent in May, down sharply — 0.6 percent — from the April figure, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development. The unemployment rate dropped in 94 of Tennessee's 95 counties.

Once again, Williamson County has the state's lowest unemployment rate, slightly better than Davidson County's 2.1 percent. Nine of the 10 lowest county numbers were in Middle Tennessee. Twenty-one counties statewide had unemployment rates below 3 percent. In the last year, the Williamson County jobless number has decreased 1.1 percent.

The estimated city-level figure for Brentwood is 2.2 percent, down 0.6 percent from April. In neighboring Franklin, it is 1.9 percent, the lowest among the state's cities of at least 25,000 people.

The state rate, reported last week, is 4 percent, down 0.7 percent from April.
