Williamson County Unemployment Rate Inches Up, Still State's Lowest

The county jobless rate was up slightly in August.

NASHVILLE, TN — The unemployment rate in Williamson County was 3.7 percent in August, up 0.1 percent from the July figure, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

Once again, Williamson County has the state's lowest unemployment rate, slightly better than Davidson County's 3.8 percent. Of the 10 lowest county unemployment rates statewide, nine were in Middle Tennessee and six were in counties adjacent to Davidson County, plus Davidson County itself.

The estimated city-level figure for Brentwood is 4 percent. In neighboring Franklin, it is 3.5 percent.

In the last year, the Williamson County jobless number has dropped 0.4 percent.

The state rate, reported last week, is 4.4 percent, up 0.1 percent from July.
