• Legal & Public Notices For The Week Of 05/14/26 (carthagecourier.com) — Several new legal notices out of Carthage detail probate cases, a Chancery Court publication order, and a vehicle ownership notice, all affecting local residents. Carthage officials also announce a May 18 zoning appeals meeting at City Hall and seek contractor proposals for major landfill timber removal and rock excavation, plus an online auction of surplus school buses.
   

• Motorcyclist dies at Nashville hospital after crash in Smith County (wsmv.com) — A motorcyclist seriously hurt in a Smith County crash near Club Springs Road was airlifted from Stonewall to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville but later died. Responders from the Smith County Rescue Squad and Gordonsville Fire Department assisted at the scene, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating as the community is asked to keep the family in their thoughts.
   

• Connie Slagle Bowman (davidsoncountysource.com) — Carthage and Smith County neighbors are mourning 61-year-old Connie Slagle Bowman, remembered for her local roots, work at Carthage Hardee’s, and ties to area churches. She passed away May 9, 2026, and, per her family’s wishes, no public services will be held.
