• Cookeville Nears Completion of Widening Stevens Street (theucnow.com) — West Stevens Street in Cookeville is about to reopen wider and safer after a $3.1 million upgrade adding a turn lane, sidewalks, and underground utilities. City Manager James Mills says final striping and cleanup should wrap this week, with more projects like East 10th Street and Henry Drive already moving forward to handle the city’s growth.
   

• Operation Spring Clean Up Scores Major Victory Against Drugs In Putnam County (tennesseeconservativenews.com) — A major multi-agency drug sweep has taken 14 accused dealers off the streets of Putnam County, with high bonds and court dates set for May 21, 2026. Residents in Cookeville and nearby communities are likely to feel the impact, as the operation targeted meth, cocaine, and fentanyl networks that have fueled crime and overdoses locally.
   

• Applications Open for 5th Annual 2026 Juneteenth Pageant (herald-citizen.com) — Applications are now open for the 5th Annual Miss Juneteenth Pageant happening June 6 at the Cookeville Community Center, with a mandatory rehearsal on June 5. Young women ages 4–21 from the Upper Cumberland can compete for cash prizes, scholarships, and ambassador roles, but applications and the $50 entry fee must be submitted by April 30.
