Short-term closures are redirecting traffic, but the finished project will add a new outlet to Jefferson Avenue and help motorists bypass congestion near Sam’s Club and KFC. 
• Tennessee Supreme Court to Hear Oral Arguments at Boys State in Cookeville (tncourts.gov) — Tennessee’s Supreme Court is bringing a special session to Tennessee Tech in Cookeville on May 27, letting Boys State participants watch real oral arguments up close. Two significant cases on probation rights and discovery sanctions will be heard, and the proceedings will be livestreamed for anyone who wants to follow along from home.
• 51 years in the making: Cookeville golf classic to raise money for local Cancer patients (ucbjournal.com) — Cookeville’s longest-running charity golf tournament returns June 20 at Golden Eagle Golf Club, raising money for local cancer patients through the Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation. Four-person teams can choose from two shotgun starts, enjoy breakfast and lunch, compete for prizes including a $10,000 hole-in-one, and still grab sponsorships before the June 9 registration deadline.
