17-Year-Old Madison Front-Porch Murder Suspect To Be Tried As Adult
Accused of killing a 56-year-old man on his front porch in July, a 17-year-old will be tried as an adult.

NASHVILLE, TN — The 17-year-old accused of murdering a 56-year-old man on the porch of his Madison mobile home in July will be tried as an adult.
The Davidson County Grand Jury indicted Tyler Atkins, 17, for first-degree murder. Investigators say Atkins shot and killed 56-year-old John Stowers, who was sitting on the porch of his home on Queen Ann Drive, in July 2016.

A friend found Stowers' body around 2:30 a.m. on July 18. Neighbors told police they heard gunfire around 11:30 p.m. the night before. A motive has not been released by police.
