East Nashville Weekend Weather: 'Doozy' of a 'Messy' 'Roller Coaster'

East Nashville's weather is going to be a wild ride this weekend.

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — The hackneyed phrase "Don't like Tennessee weather? Just wait five minutes" may never be truer than it will be this weekend according to the National Weather Service forecast for East Nashville. South winds accompanying Friday and Saturday's rain will bring spring-like temperatures, nearing 70, but once the rain-making front moves through, the winds flip 180 degrees and Saturday's low will be 40 degrees below the high. After that? Freezing and rain sleet to start Sunday. Something for everybody, as this week's forecast has been described variously by the local weather office as a "doozy," "messy" and a "roller coaster."

Friday night: A 60 percent chance of showers, mainly after midnight, otherwise cloudy. Strong south winds — 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph — drive the "low" up to 56.

Saturday: A 60 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms possible, especially after noon. The warm south winds continue — gusts up to 30 mph are possible. High of 69. A 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms continue after dark, but the winds shift dramatically from the south to the north, dropping the low down to 29.
