Goodlettsville Hotel Standoff: 3 Teens, 1 Adult In Custody

After a police chase and a two-hour stand-off, four people were arrested at a Goodlettsville hotel.

GOODLETTSVILLE, TN — Three juveniles and one 18-year-old are in custody after a two-hour stand-off with police at a Goodlettsville hotel Thursday.

After searching for people involved in a string of auto thefts, the Goodlettsville Police Department determined four people — two males and two females — were at the America's Best Value Inn on Rivergate Parkway. The four had already led police on a short chase through Madison early Thursday. The GPD called Metro for assistance around 3:30 a.m. Upon MNPD's arrival, the other guests at the hotel were evacuated as the SWAT team and negotiators came on the scene and the suspects barricaded themselves inside a room.

Guests at the hotel reported hearing officers on bullhorns ordering the suspects to come out of the room, while other police evacuated the remaining guests.

"Approximately about 3 o'clock in the morning, I was woken up by SWAT. They told us to evacuate, hurry up, leave your room, so we did. We went all the way around the perimeter," hotel guest Harold Swearingen told WSMV. "They just said we've got a serious issue, and they think they are well armed in the room."

Around 5:30 a.m., officers entered the room and the quartet surrendered. The mother of one of the four was in communication with the suspects and police said she may have helped the situation resolve peacefully.

The two males — one of the juveniles and the 18-year-old — have outstanding warrants for assault and auto theft. It's unclear what the involvement of the two juvenile females is.

Police did not immediately specify the incidents that led to the warrants for the males, but the hotel was where investigators located the car stolen from a Vanderbilt football player during the White Bridge Road Target shooting.
