Man Fatally Stabbed, Left By East Nashville Dumpster

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — A man found stabbed in the neck by an East Nashville dumpster early Thursday died in the hospital. according to Metro Police.

A person living near the dumpster on South Fourth Street saw the man lying beside the dumpster around 2 a.m. and called police, believing the man had been shot; however, officers never saw a gunshot wound, though the man was bleeding profusely from a gash in his neck. Police and EMTs attempted to stop the bleeding before transporting the man to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.

Investigators are working to determine if the wound was the aftermath of an attack or if it was self-inflicted, accidentally or otherwise.
