Nashville Dad Busted With Drugs, Unrestrained Child In Stolen Car: Police

A man was arrested with a child and drugs in a stolen car in Madison Thursday, police say.

MADISON, TN — A man driving a stolen car without a license was arrested Thursday night with drugs and an unrestrained child in the backseat on Old Hickory Boulevard in Madison, according to Metro Police.

Courtavious Burns, 19, is charged with two counts of vehicle theft — one is connected to an outstanding warrant from June, two counts of possession of a controlled substance in a school zone, child endangerment, evading arrest, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and driving without a license. A check of the car's plate indicated it had been reported stolen and a subsequent search revealed a small amount of marijuana and a white powder. Burns' 7-month-old son was in the backseat but not in a car seat. A 16-year-old was also in the car, according to police.
