Here are the top three stories in Franklin today:

  1. Franklin alderman unanimously voted down a measure to rezone property to redevelop Brownland Farm. Opponents of the plan spoke out against flooding concerns surrounding the property, and even Mayor Ken Moore gave his dissent to the alderman prior to voting. Though the board initially approved the plan, it was struck down this time around; there will be no third reading. (News Channel 5 Nashville)
  2. A Franklin police officer who had been hospitalized with severe COVID pneumonia since January is finally returning home. Officer Sean Finn had been receiving treatment in Florida and was placed on a full lung bypass. Finn's return flight home was scheduled for yesterday afternoon. (Franklin PD News)
  3. The Gary Sinise Foundation has announced its headquarters will move from Los Angeles to Franklin this summer. The charity foundation, founded by award-winning actor Gary Sinise, honors veterans and first responders as well as their families. Said Sinise, "It will be very, very good to be in a state that's connected to seven other states, all of them with military bases and many, many veterans and all those communities around Tennessee."
