Here are the top stories in Franklin and nearby communities today:

  1. The Franklin Police Department caught catalytic converter theft suspects after finding 26 stolen converters stuffed into the trunk of a car. 44-year-old Laquetta Eugene of Houston, TX, and 32-year-old Chesare Rivers of Memphis were caught red-handed as the two allegedly were trying to steal another catalytic converter from a car in the Cool Springs Galleria parking lot on Sept. 30. Officers witnessed Rivers under a car with an electric saw prompting the take down. (franklinpdnews.com)
  2. A neighborhood dispute between two men lead to a deadly shooting in Franklin on Tuesday evening. Officers identified the victim as 57-year-old Guillermo Leon who was shot outside his home during a dispute with 27-year-old Brenton Johnson on Reveille Court around 5:15 p.m. Johnson was charged with criminal homicide and is being held on a $400,000 bond.   3. The Country Music Association has announced the return of the 55th annual awards show, taking place on Nov. 10 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. (NewsChannel5.com)
  4. Early voting is underway in Franklin as voters are tasked with filling four ward and one at-large seats on the nine-person board of mayor and aldermen. (williamsonherald.com)
