A Nashville man with multiple drug and assault convictions was arrested in Franklin after he was stopped for a window-tint violation.

FRANKLIN, TN — A simple traffic stop for a violation of the state's window-tinting law led to the discovery of a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, according to Franklin Police.
A Franklin police officer stopped a vehicle on Galleria Boulevard at 5:15 pm Sunday on suspicion that the car's window tint was too dark. FPD says the officer discovered a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat. The driver, 47-year-old Darold Swanson of Nashville, is a felon with multiple convictions for assault and drug crimes that date back decades. He has been previously convicted at least twice for being a felon in possession of a handgun, according to Davidson County court records.
Swanson is charged with felon in possession of a weapon and illegal window tint and is being held in the Williamson County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
