Deadly Crash Closes I-65 For 12 Hours
One person was killed and several others were injured in a Monday evening wreck that shut down Interstate 65 for nearly 12 hours.

SPRING HILL, TN — A four-vehicle wreck on Interstate 65 near Spring Hill killed one person and injured several others Monday night, shutting down half of the interstate until early Tuesday morning.
A sedan travelling northbound crossed the median into southbound traffic around 4:15 Monday afternoon between the Saturn Parkway and Interstate 840 interchanges, hitting another sedan head-on, according to police. A tractor-trailer and a Jeep, which burst into flames, were also involved in the wreck.

One person was dead on the scene, two were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and two others were flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Traffic on both sides of the interstate was shut down until about 5:30 p.m., when northbound traffic began flowing again. At 8 p.m., both north and southbound traffic was moved to the north side of the interstate. Police began to re-open portions of the southbound lanes around 4 a.m., with normal traffic resuming by 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and none of the victims' names have been released.
