🌱FFD Car Seat Checkup + Blood Donors Needed In Williamson County

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Franklin.

Happy Wednesday, Franklin! Here's everything you need to know going on today.

First, today's weather:

Intervals of clouds and sun. High: 53 Low: 28.

Here are the top stories today in Franklin:

  1. The Franklin Fire Department will host a free car seat check-up event tomorrow (Dec. 9) to help local parents and guardians ensure their kids are safely secured during upcoming holiday road trips. The event is free and open to the public and will take place at FFD Station 7 (1972 John Fitzgerald Dr.) from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary; simply drive through the fire station bays and a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician will help. (City of Franklin)
  2. The Williamson County Chamber of Commerce urges local residents to donate blood if they are able. The American Red Cross, which provides 40 percent of the country's blood, is facing historically low blood supply levels, and if more donors don't come forward, some patients requiring a transfusion may potentially face delays in care. To encourage blood donors this holiday season, all who come to give Dec. 17 through Jan. 2 will receive an exclusive Red Cross long-sleeved T-shirt, while supplies last. Click the link to find your nearest donation location. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Want a free movie ticket to The Franklin Theatre? Take a trip down Candy Cane Lane at this weekend's Dickens of a Christmas festival and check in with your digital passport at each stop to claim your ticket. (Downtown Franklin)
  4. Missed the Franklin Christmas tree lighting this past weekend? Check out this timelapse footage of the crowd in the Square as the tree lights up. (Townesville Bulletin)
  5. The Tennessee Department of Transportation and federal, state, and local officials invite the community of Franklin to celebrate the opening of the Mack Hatcher Parkway extension on Monday, Dec. 13. (Williamson Herald)
