Fire Breaks Out At Franklin Glassblowing Studio

More than 30 firefighters battled the blaze for nearly four hours Thursday.

FRANKLIN, TN — Franklin Glassblowing Studio is likely a total loss after a Thursday night fire.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 1134 Columbia Avenue around 9 p.m. Thursday to find smoke in the attic. The fire eventually spread from the street-level studio up into the second-floor apartment, forcing firefighters to take on the blaze via aerial ladder.

Deputy Fire Chief Andy King told the Franklin Home Page that eventually more than 30 firefighters from five different fire stations fought the fire for nearly four hours. One firefighter, who fell into a four-foot-deep meter vault had to be taken to Williamson Medical Center, where we he was treated and released.

The Home Page reports the owner of the studio, Jose Santisteban, was not present in the studio or in the apartment above, where he lives.

An investigation of the fire was underway Friday.
