Franklin Blames 'Technical Error' for Anti-Trump Image on City's Official Twitter Account

Franklin's city spokesperson said she accidentally shared the anti-Trump declamation Sunday night and quickly deleted it.

FRANKLIN, TN — An eyebrow-raising anti-Trump tweet from the City of Franklin's official Twitter account Sunday night was a social-media snafu, a city spokesperson said.

The post, which was up for less than a minute, hit the account at 8:45 p.m. Sunday and was a image of a rather lengthy text, addressed to an unspecified supporter of Donald Trump.

“I am not mad at you that Clinton lost. I am unconcerned that we have different politics. And I don’t think less of you because you vote one way and I vote another. No… I think less of you because you watched an adult mock a disabled person in front of a crowd and still supported him. I think less of you because you saw a man spouting clear racism and backed him,” the post begins.

It's a philippic that's made the rounds throughout social media since Election Day, though its provenance is unknown and is certainly not an original work by the person responsible for the city's account, City Spokesperson Milissa Reierson.

Reierson emailed a statement about the tweet to The Tennessean, saying a technical error caused it to be posted.

“Last night, you may have seen a social post from a political group that was picked up by the city's monitoring tool and accidentally posted to Franklin's Twitter account,” the statement said. “Please disregard. We quickly realized the mistake and the post was removed within a minute. This in no way reflects the opinion of the City of Franklin or the Communications Manager. We sincerely apologize for any offense this may have caused.”

Williamson County is one of the hardiest Republican strongholds in a deeply-red state, with Trump winning every precinct in the election and taking 63 percent of the vote there.
