Here are the top three stories today in Franklin:

  1. A Franklin mom had a frightening experience at a local Goodwill when a stranger approached her daughter. According to mom Mattie, her 8-year-old daughter was in the cart when she turned to see her 10-year-old daughter. Mattie then heard her youngest yelling for her and turned to see a strange man next to the cart. Later, her daughter said the man tried to roll the cart, with her in it, away from her mom. Franklin police found the man later, who admitted to scaring the child, but noted there "wasn't anything arrestable at the moment." (WKRN)
  2. A cyber attack recently exposed the personal information of millions of patients of the Franklin-based health company, Community Health Systems (CHS) hospitals. According to a U.S. Security and Exchange Commission filing, a third-party vendor of CHS named Fortra LLC suffered from a security breach that led to the information leak. An investigation is ongoing; CHS said it plans to notify the patients whose data was exposed. (Williamson Source)
  3. Today, Feb. 16, and tomorrow, Feb. 17, the Franklin Fire Department and the Franklin Firefighters Association will walk 27.3-miles to raise awareness of the mental wellness needs of firefighters. The community is invited to join the firefighters for all or part of the two-day journey. The walk will include stopping at all eight fire stations in the city of Franklin. (Williamson Herald)
