Here are the top three stories in Franklin today:

  1. A Franklin-based group is providing direct aid to Ukrainian residents crossing the border to Poland. The Outreach Foundation currently has a team of people in Warsaw, providing food, water, clothing, and transportation to those staying at the Warsaw Central Railway Station. The organization reports approximately 300,000 refugees in the Warsaw area now, with nearly half of them being children. (News Channel 5 Nashville)
  2. Franklin police are searching for a person who attempted to burglarize a local Burger King. According to detectives, the suspect broke into the fast-food restaurant with a crowbar; they also attempted to get into the restaurant's safe but left with no money. Anyone with information on the incident should contact Crime Stoppers at 615-794-4000; a cash reward is being offered. (WSMV 4)
  3. On Monday, the Tennessee Department of Education (DOE) released its final set of resources about the proposed Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA) program. According to a DOE news release, the purpose of the resources is to offer the public "additional details on how the proposed student-based public education funding formula would focus on the needs of each individual student and ensure they are prepared for postsecondary success." If approved by lawmakers, TISA would begin in the 2023-24 school year and invest approximately $9 billion in education funding statewide. (williamsonherald.com)
