Franklin Police: Man Passed Out, Holding Bottle of Urine Arrested For DUI

A 33-year-old man with two previous DUI convictions was unconscious with his car running and in gear, police said.

FRANKLIN, TN β€” Franklin Police arrested a 33-year-old Columbia man on suspicion of drunken driving after discovering him passed out inside his running car and, during the arrest, made a bizarre discovery.

Police responding to a report of an unconscious driver in the early hours of January 3 found James Hughes on Lewisburg Pike near Peytonsville Road. According to police, he was "impaired and unconscious," behind the wheel of his car, which was running and in gear. Hughes had apparently passed out with his foot on the brake.

During the arrest, police say they found a bottle of urine, which they believe Hughes was going to use during a pre-employment drug test.
