Franklin Police Officer Fired, Arrested

FRANKLIN, TN – A Franklin police officer was fired and arrested for harassment after he allegedly makingdeath threats via text message and voicemail.

Phillip Wise, an eight-year veteran of FPD, was fired June 22 following a June 19 arrest for threats allegedly made in March. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Middle Tennessee Patch morning newsletter.)

According to a report from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office the male victim received two texts March 11.

One said, “I’m going to kill you b****. Just know your toothless a** is on very little time, you f*****.”

The second: “It don’t’ matter to me, you and that dirty a** dog’s on borrowed time, b****.”

According to the report, the man later received two voicemails threatening his life and his dog’s.

The victim told investigators it was Wise who sent the messages because the officer’s girlfriend lives with him.

The girlfriend told detectives she doesn’t believe it was Wise.

In the spring of 2016, Wise was awarded the department’s life-saving award after stopping a man from committing suicide.

Wise remains out of jail on $5,000 bond after being charged with two counts of harassment.
