Franklin Smash And Grab Suspect, St. Louis Cardinal Fan Sought

FRANKLIN, TN — Franklin Police are searching for a man who broke into two cars outside of a gym and then used the pilfered credit cards to make purchases at a nearby Target.

Police say the man busted car windows outside of the Planet Fitness on Murfreesboro Road, stealing wallets and purses and, in one case, a handgun.

A few minutes later, the alleged thief used credit cards to make purchases at the Cool Springs Target.

"Thieves know that many people who visit fitness centers, parks, and daycares leave valuables behind. Suspects are often in place and watching as victims arrive. When they see you get out and go in empty-handed, or see you stow valuables in your trunk and walk away, they quickly move in, and break in," FPD said in a statement.
