Franklin's Trattoria A Closed Permanently
After renovations and menu changes, high-end Franklin Italian eatery Trattoria A has shut its doors.
FRANKLIN, TN — High-end Italian restaurant Trattoria A has closed permanently, chef Matthew Antonovich said.
Antonovich — a well-traveled chef who previously ran restaurants in Louisville and Dallas, worked as a corporate chef and said he cooked for five presidents — opened the 27-seat restaurant in a West Main cottage on Black Friday 2015, highlighting cuisine from all over Italy. In December 2016, the restaurant shut down, offering private parties with a $1,000 minimum tab. After re-opening, it briefly went to a two-seatings-nightly, $75 prix-fixe menu, before transitioning back to a a traditional menu, but offering even higher-end (and higher price) food like $200 Wagyu steak. Just before its closing announcement, it had gone to a two-night-per-week pizzeria concept.

"As an independent restaurant we have strived to create wonderful and lasting relationships with our guests and business associates and served over 8,000 meals from a one chef kitchen on one stove in a 900 square foot cottage home. Those experiences gave us an opportunity to share a great property located at 1210 W Main in Franklin, TN. Our place shared a great atmosphere with guests to dine with us and to enjoy the company of those special to us. Our guests were the highlight of our business and we want to thank you for patronizing our business," Antonovich wrote in a message to customers.
