Jury Duty Scam Returns To Williamson County
Franklin Police say the old "payment in lieu of arrest" con is making the rounds once again.

FRANKLIN, TN — Franklin Police say the so-called jury duty con is back on the scam scene once again.
In this version of the con, a person is called by someone claiming to be a member of local law enforcement. The resident is threatened with arrest for missing jury duty but is offered a way out: purchase a pre-paid debit card or an iTunes gift card and arrange for its transfer.
In reality, police never call to demand payment in lieu of arrest and warrants issued for missed jury duty are extraordinarily rare.
