  1. Officials are warning residents to double-check their insurance policies after reports of a Franklin man owing thousands of dollars after being treated for COVID-19 in a local hospital. The man wondered why the COVID-19 relief funds weren't helping with his bills. Further insight explained that while hospitals did receive relief funding, it was not meant for patient hospital bills.   2. As part of the Veterans Street Naming project, the city of Franklin's first local street is set to be named after a Franklin veteran on Friday. Old Charlotte Pike East on the city's west side by the new Mack Hatcher Parkway extension will be renamed Roy F. Alley Court. Alley, a Purple Heart recipient, died in 1945 after his plane was shot down. (williamsonherald.com)
  3. A former staff drummer for the Grand Ole Opry passed away earlier this month in his Franklin home. Jerry Ray Johnston died on Jan. 9 at the age of 65 from complications with COVID pneumonia. Johnston, who himself relocated to Nashville from Louisana over 40 years ago to pursue his career in music, was known for encouraging many other musicians to move to the area, then helping them network their way toward getting gigs.
