More Than Half of Williamson County Voters Cast Early Ballots

FRANKLIN, TN — More than 83,000 Williamson Countians cast early ballots this year with turnout falling between 2012 and the record-setting 2008.

With just a handful of numbers set to come in late Thursday, 83,300 early votes had been cast countywide, putting turnout at 55.5 percent, between the 51 percent in 2012 and the record 59.9 percent in 2008.

"This is about what we could expect, but I think this election has drawn a lot of people out because they expected chaos on Election Day," Administrator of Elections Chad Gray told The Tennessean. "In some precincts, 60 percent of registered voters have voted. I don't think Election Day is going to be too hectic at all."

Statewide, a record 1,675,679 people cast early votes, surpassing 2008's 1,579,960.
