Here are the top 3 stories today in Franklin:

  1. Due to winter weather conditions, officials closed the Natchez Trace Parkway from Highway 46 in Tennessee to the Northern Terminus in Nashville on Sunday. Closures will remain in place until snow and ice are cleared from the motor road. Though the parkway remains open south of Highway 46, the National Park Service stated that travelers could expect further closures due to ice, sleet, snow, or downed trees. (WSMV Nashville)
  2. The new year just got happier for one local family. Williamson Medical Center in Franklin welcomed its first baby of 2022 in the wee hours of the morning on Jan. 1. The little bundle of joy, Yana Yashvi, is the new daughter of proud parents Bhawana Priyadarshini and Kamal Kumar. (williamsonherald.com)
  3. Winter weather, COVID-19 staffing shortages, and post-holiday travel created the perfect storm for flight cancellations to and from Nashville International Airport (BNA). BNA faced nearly 48 canceled flights on top of the 2,500-plus cancellations nationwide, leaving passengers stranded in Tennessee. (WKRN News 2)
