Paid Parking Coming To Franklin

Three pay parking lots will open in downtown Franklin by the end of July.

FRANKLIN, TN — Visitors to Franklin will have the option to pay to park when visiting downtown by the end of July.

Park Happy owner Keith Moorman told The Tennessean he was inspired to open the lots after experiencing an all-too-common inconvenience: looping the square to find an open spot. Meter installation is already underway at the three lots at Generations Church on Fourth Avenue; John Green Insurance on Fourth Avenue; and Shuff's Music and Piano Showroom on Third Avenue, he told the newspaper. Prices will range from $2 to $10.

The free lots will remain along the street and at the city parking garages. Moorman told the paper he is in discussions to open other pay lots with property owners in the area.

A new garage is also planned for the Harpeth Square project.
