Police: Fairview Man Drives To Franklin To Meet Teen For Sex, Meets Officers Instead

A 28-year-old Fairview man thought he was arranging for sex with a teen girl, police say.

FRANKLIN, TN — Franklin Police said a Fairview man drove to a hotel, thinking he was meeting a 16-year-old girl for sex. Instead, he was met with an arrest warrant.

Utilizing social media, 28-year-old Shawn Buford of Fairview arranged to come to a Franklin hotel to pay for sex with the "girl," according to vice detectives. Buford showed up at the undisclosed Franklin hotel and was arrested.

“Criminals who prey or attempt to prey on our community’s children will be aggressively pursued, arrested, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said Chief Deborah Faulkner. “These crimes are unconscionable and will not be tolerated in Franklin.”

Buford is charged with patronizing prostitution with a minor, a Class B felony, and solicitation of a minor, a Class E felony. He is being held on a $225,000 bond.
