After a "brutal assault" on his wife in Cool Springs, a Gallatin man is jailed in Franklin.

FRANKLIN, TN — A Gallatin man is behind bars in Williamson County after police say he "brutally assaulted" his wife at a Cool Springs shopping center.
Charles Cooper, 39, was arrested in Sumner County and transported to Franklin on aggravated assault charges stemming from an incident at Coolsprings Crossings shopping center Saturday. Franklin Police say they arrived around 6 p.m. to find Cooper chasing his wife into a store. Investigators say he slammed his wife on the ground and then began punching and strangling her, while threatening to kill her.
Cooper's wife was able to escape and go into a nearby store to call for help. Cooper himself fled, but was arrested by Sumner County authorities later Saturday. Cooper, a convicted felon, is being held on $10,000 bond.
