Morning, neighbors! Sean Peek here with a brand-new issue of the Franklin Daily.

First, today's weather:

Cold with plenty of sunshine. High: 35 Low: 18.

Here are the top two stories today in Franklin:

  1. An explosion was reported at Poplar Grove Middle School Tuesday morning around 7:15 a.m. A cargo storage container used to hold construction material exploded on the campus. No one was injured and the fire from the explosion was extinguished quickly, causing no damages. The initial investigation shows that there appeared to be a propane leak in the container overnight. (WKRN News 2)
  2. On Saturday evening, Garrett Hedlund, an actor from the film "Friday Night Lights" was arrested in Franklin. According to police, Hedlund was charged with public intoxication. Police responded to reports of a public disturbance and found Hedlund drunk and banging on the door of a business. (NBC 4)
  3. State Rep. Brandon Ogles, a Franklin Republican, says he is drafting legislation that could change the board's subpoena power just days after threatening a "deep dive" into the Registry of Election Finance. While Ogles took a step back from incendiary comments he made last week at a Williamson Inc. legislative gathering, he says he plans to look at subpoena authority across the state's boards to make sure they are "transparent."
