Here are the top stories today in Franklin:
- The Heritage Foundation's 36th annual PumpkinFest is set to return to Downtown Franklin on Oct. 30. As the largest fall festival in Middle Tennessee, PumpkinFest attracts more than 65,000 visitors to Main Street, Franklin each year. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the 30th, residents can enjoy a full day of autumn-inspired food and drink, children's activities, live music, costume contests, arts and crafts, and "extreme pumpkin-carvers." - Ironwood Academy held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new campus at 405 Duke Drive in Franklin on Saturday. The 12,000 square foot building is located in Aspen Grove Corporate Park just off Seaboard Lane. Ironwood, a private, non-denominational, Christian educational program for grades K through 12, offers a unique hybrid educational model and is offering campus tours and shadow days for any students who wish to experience a "day at Ironwood."(Williamson Source)
- Torrey Barnhill, Executive Director of Friends of Franklin Park, has been nominated by YOUR Williamson magazine as a 2021 Nonprofit Hero. Barnhill, who has lived in Franklin for nearly 25 years, says she has "always felt pulled to be in a 'helping' role or profession" and has continuously served her local community in various volunteer roles over the years.
