Second Suspect In Three-County Hotel Heist Spree Arrested

Franklin Police arrested the second of two men suspected in a months-long string of Midstate hotel robberies.

FRANKLIN, TN — After a weekend-long manhunt, Franklin Police arrested the second of two suspects sought by law enforcement in three different counties for a string of armed hotel robberies. Gregg Merrilees, 40, was arrested Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of a Murfreesboro apartment complex.

Merrilees' alleged accomplice, 32-year-old DaShaun Hickerson of Antioch, Friday after an investigation involving Metro Nashville, Smyrna and Franklin police. Among others, Hickerson and Merrilees were wanted for the January 11 robbery of the Baymont Inn in Franklin, in which they "menaced" the clerk with a gun and knife.

Merrilees is charged with aggravated robbery, burglary, and theft under $1,000. He is being held in the Williamson County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
