Here are the top stories today in Franklin and nearby communities:
- A kitchen fire at a Shake Shack in Cool Springs forced the restaurant to temporarily close on Sunday night. The fire broke out behind the gas-powered griddle near an electrical outlet and was put out prior to the fire department's arrival by an employee who used a fire extinguisher. Franklin Fire Investigator Engineer Brian Daugherty estimated the damage at less than $5,000 contained to the kitchen area and expects the business to reopen soon. (Press Release Desk)
- The Old Georgia Boot Factory Pavilion at Bicentennial Park has been deemed a safety hazard and will be demolished beginning the final week of Sept. The structure is expected to be replaced with a fabricated steel structure to replicate the existing one and will provide the community with a rental event space. The Parks Department will bid on the project this winter and start construction next spring. (Williamson Source)
