Skinned Pregnant Doe Discovered In Franklin Country Club Pool

The TWRA is investigating after a pregnant doe was found skinned at the bottom of the Temple Hills Country Club pool Tuesday.

FRANKLIN, TN — Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials are investigating a grisly, disturbing discovery at a Franklin country club.

The body of a skinned, pregnant doe was placed in a large garbage bag and then dumped into the Temple Hills Country Club pool, the TWRA said. It was found around 9:20 Tuesday morning and investigators believe it was dumped sometime overnight Monday, though there is no surveillance footage. The TWRA said some of the meat had been removed from the animal.

It's not yet clear if the deer was shot or if it was hit by a car. Were it shot, the person responsible could be charged with illegal hunting, as deer season is closed. If the doe was hit by a car, because it was pregnant, the driver was required to report it to the TWRA within 48 hours.

A littering charge is also possible because of the manner in which the animal was disposed.

Temple Hills drained and acid washed the pool and the doe was taken by a wildlife officer for a necropsy.
