🌱Tree Lighting In The Square + Franklin Preschool Robotics Class

Welcome back, Franklin! It's Monday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on today in Franklin.

Here are the top stories in Franklin today:

  1. On Friday night, community members gathered in downtown Franklin for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting in the Square ceremony. The crowd enjoyed live musical performances by the Freedom Intermediate School honors choir, five-time Grammy nominee and Christian music songwriter Matthew West, and country singer Layla Tucker, daughter of Tanya Tucker. Franklin Mayor Ken Moore spoke at the event, and free photos with Santa were provided by Williamson Medical Center. (williamsonherald.com)
  2. Think Outside the Box (TOBschool), a new Franklin STEAM-focused preschool that broke ground about a year ago, has announced a robotics class for children ages 4 to 8. During this class, students will be offered robotics, game design, and Minecraft. Each class begins by asking the student a question and they discuss the possible solutions then students will perform a hands-on project to solve the problem. The school is located at 4407 South Carothers Road, and Spring sessions will begin in January 2022. (Williamson Source)
  3. Local firefighters were dispatched on Saturday afternoon to rescue a horse that had fallen into a ditch on a south Franklin farm on Long Lane. (WSMV Nashville)
  4. The Franklin Art Scene returned to downtown Franklin Friday night during the tree lighting ceremony and featured an array of local artists and craftsmen spread throughout downtown businesses near the Square. (williamsonherald.com)
  5. Dr. Wendelyn Inman, a Tennessee State University public health expert and the former chief of epidemiology for the State of Tennessee, worries about the "vaccine skeptics" in Middle Tennessee as the Omicron COVID-19 variant emerges, saying she is "concerned for people in areas where larger numbers of unimmunized people are working, living, and playing."
