'Violent' Crash Sends SUV Airborne on McEwen Exit at I-65; 18-Year-Old Brentwood Woman Seriously Injured

The driver of the Lexus did not slow when exiting the interstate and crossed seven lanes and two medians.

FRANKLIN, TN — A Lexus SUV was destroyed at the McEwen exit off Interstate 65 in one of the most violent crashes the Franklin Police have ever seen.

According to police, the car was travelling at high speed on I-65 south and then exited at McEwen, but did not reduce speed on the ramp, crossing seven lanes of traffic and two medians without hitting any other cars. The SUV went airborne, rolled over and landed in a ditch, breaking into two.

The engine and two front seats of the SUV landed in the parking lot of the Drury Inn, 80 feet away.

The driver, an 18-year-old Brentwood woman, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition, according to Franklin Police.
