Williamson County, Franklin Schools In Session For Total Eclipse

Both of Williamson County's public school districts will hold class August 21.

FRANKLIN, TN β€” Unlike many other school districts in or near the path of totality, Williamson County Schools and the Franklin Special School District will hold class August 21, the day of the once-in-a-life total solar eclipse.

Districts nationwide and several in Tennessee have opted against holding class that day, but Williamson County's two public school districts join Metro Nashville Public Schools in keeping the kids at school. FSSD announced it is planning programming for its students so they can experience the event β€” which, however, does not reach totality in Franklin itself.

The district will purchase enough of the special safety glasses for students and staff and the district's curriculum supervisor is researching grade-appropriate teacher resources.
