Williamson County Schools Budget Proposal: $346 Million

Facing an expected enrollment increase of 4.3 percent, Williamson County Schools ask for a 7 percent budget increase.

FRANKLIN, TN β€” Faced with an expected enrollment increase of 4.3 percent, the proposed Williamson County Schools budget is 7 percent higher than last year.

At a Thursday night budget meeting, superintendent Mike Looney said the proposed $346 million budget doesn't have a lot of "bells and whistles," with much of the increase coming from additional employees needed to meet the expected growth and the incumbent insurance costs that come with adding those employees. The budget does include a sizable chunk to purchase new science textbooks.

The Williamson County Board of Education is set to vote on the budget proposal in March with the Williamson County Commission giving the final OK as part of the county budget sometime early this summer.
