Here are the top three stories today in Franklin:
- On Friday, the Williamson Medical Center (WMC) received six 2022 Women's Choice Awards. It has been named as one of America's Best for Women's Services, Breast Centers, Obstetrics, Heart Care, Patient Safety, and Mammography Imaging Centers by the Women's Choice Award®. Some of the services WMC offers include a dedicated center for breast care, comprehensive obstetrics services, a Level III or Level IV neonatal intensive care unit, and a full range of cardiovascular services. - Metro homicide detectives are investigating what led to a woman being dropped off at Southern Hills Medical Center with serious injuries on Jan. 24. 36-year-old Jennifer Pogue was brought to the hospital by unknown persons who left shortly afterward. She was suffering from blunt force injuries and was placed on life support until she died on Friday from her injuries. The investigation is ongoing; police say they are pursuing strong leads. - Freedom Middle School in Franklin has instituted a schoolwide book study to engage students and help them bond and build relationships. Every student in the school is part of a weekly advisory group, but the schoolwide nature of the book study generates conversations outside of class. The themes of this year's selection, "The Crossover" by Kwame Alexander, include resilience, relationships, hard work, and navigating conflict. (williamsonherald.com)
